Am I the only person who is just hearing about this amazing project taking place in the streets of Paris? Crocheted, bright, multicolored chains of yarn filling the cracks and potholes throughout Paris until the city decides that the sidwalks are worth taking care of....
The creator of these gorgeous creations (otherwise known as Yarn Bombing) is a french artist named Juliana Santacruz Herrera who is transforming eyesores into whimsical designs!
I had never heard of Yarn Bombing before....apparently there are MANY different ways to make our world more colorful through this type of creative "graffiti".....Google Yarn Bombing and see all of the amazing images that surface!
I am loving this....makes me want to start a Pothold Project in my own neighborhood.

Wow, what a great find. I haven't heard of it before either, and somehow I get the feeling I'd just get in trouble if I tried a stunt like that here, hehe. So beautiful though. Almost makes you hope they DON'T fix the potholes so it can stay ;)

ReplyDeleteYeah!! Yarn Bombing is awesome and the idea of filling the cracks and potholes on the streets is so clever and a wonderful political action!!! Wonderful! Yes! I was thinking many times to do sth similar in my neighbourhood but i don't have so much money to spent for wool! But i collect all the left wools till i have a good amount to create a yarn bombing!! ReplyDeleteHere in the UK the local news last year was full of 'gorilla grannies' they had knitted flowers and at the crack of dawn took them out to decorate places lol many of which were sacred sites stone circles etc there was uproar as some said they were damaging the sites but i thought it was a great idea and one of the grannies said 'we only wanted to make people smile' :)
